Nice. When I worked for Johns Manville, they used to get some of their rubber shipped over from the Kenda factory over in Asia.

I'm not sure if the keys are actual mother-of-pearl, but considering plastics hadn't been invented in 1923, there's a good chance. I really don't play this horn that much. It sounds fantastic, but the keys are horribly placed compared to a modern horn. Maybe I'm spoiled? LOL. I love the way it sounds, though.

What kind of mouthpiece are you using on it? I'm contemplating getting a Selmer S90 or similar for it.

This is amazing!!! I have a saxophone EXACTLY like this! Except mine is a 1927 I believe, the etching on mine is not easy to tell the date. The only notable difference between mine and yours is the brace on the neck, mine does not have the brace.

Are the keys on your saxophone, are they pearls?

She's definitely very good at what she does... not my style at all, though. I'll check out some more of her performances when I get the chance.

That guy doesn't really make it look easy. He looks like a weirdo with ADHD. Check out my personal favorite, Imogen Heap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25VGdNU3nrU She is simply amazing.

Nice article to introduce people to Ardour! However, I would suggest that point 4 against Ardour should not suggest that folks need an extra computer to try it on. There are several options (Wubi for Ubuntu comes to mind, as does trying linux in Virtualbox, though the former runs much faster, and hence lower latency.) for installing linux on a windows based computer without partitioning. These work almost as good as standard linux.

It's funny you should write about this topic. I just finished writing a blog post about 'fashion and formalities' that echoes these sentiments, although a bit more superficially. I agree with you totally that it is so difficult to make a mark while keeping the status quo. If you haven't yet read it, I strongly recommend 'The Four Hour Work Week' by Timothy Ferriss. His book is solid, and so is his blog. Good stuff, applicable to your adventure.

I tried downgrading Amarok, and it completely borked my audio system.... I don't know how. Getting very frustrated with 9.10. I am seriously considering switching to Debian or Ubuntu 9.04 or older.

I hacked and customized the gdm when I was using 9.10. I didn't like the way it looked either. Google 'Hack Karmic GDM' and you get a lot of tutorials.
